The devastating Nepal–Tibet flash flood is a powerful reminder that infrastructure safety begins long before construction starts.
According to Reuters, the disaster was triggered after part of a Himalayan glacier collapsed, sending a massive avalanche of ice, rock and debris into the valley and causing catastrophic flooding downstream. Roads, bridges, settlements and other infrastructure were severely affected.
