Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity Testing, commonly known as UPV Testing, helps assess the uniformity and relative quality of concrete.


It can also help identify possible cracks, voids or discontinuities inside the tested concrete.

A Rebar Locator Survey helps identify the position of reinforcement bars and the approximate concrete cover over the reinforcement.


This information is useful before core cutting, drilling or carrying out detailed structural assessment.


Half-Cell Potential Testing


Half-Cell Potential Testing helps evaluate the probability of corrosion activity in reinforcement.


It is commonly considered where there is water seepage, exposed steel, rust staining or visible concrete deterioration.


Carbonation Depth Testing


Carbonation can reduce the natural protection that concrete provides to reinforcement.


Carbonation Depth Testing helps assess how far carbonation has progressed inside the concrete.


Concrete Core Cutting and Testing


In Concrete Core Testing, a cylindrical sample is removed from the structure and tested in the laboratory.


Core testing provides more direct information about the concrete at the sampled location. The core locations should be selected carefully so that important reinforcement and structural areas are not damaged.


No Single Test Can Declare a Building Safe


A proper structural assessment should combine:


Visual inspection


Building age and maintenance history


Structural drawings


Crack patterns and distress locations


NDT and laboratory test results


Structural calculations


Engineering judgment
