Why One Builder Came to Us Before His First Pour

A few months ago, a builder from Science City called us with a clear concern:
“We’ve started the project, but I’m not sure about the materials. Can you test everything?”
He had new vendors for cement and steel, and foundation work was about to begin. He wanted to be sure before locking in his choices.
Soil First, Always
We visited the site and did full soil testing—SPT, shear strength, classification, and consolidation. This helped his structural engineer decide the exact foundation design.
Cement & Concrete
We tested the cement in our lab (IS 4031) and also did slump tests and cube tests on-site. This confirmed that the concrete mix was workable and strong enough for structural use.
Sand & Aggregates
We checked the grading, impact value, and water absorption of both sand and aggregates. All of this matters to avoid weak concrete or uneven finishing.
Bricks & Blocks
He was confused between two vendors. So we tested both types of bricks for strength, water absorption, and efflorescence. One was clearly better—and he made the switch.
TMT Bars
Lastly, we tested his Fe500 steel bars for strength, bend, and elongation. Everything was well within IS 1786 limits.
The Outcome?
He avoided a poor vendor, gave real data to his engineer, and started work with full confidence.
That’s what we do at Geotech Structure and Materials Testing Labs—we test everything that goes into your site, so you don’t have to guess.
